Post-Weld Heat Treatment (PWHT) & Preheating

Equipped with 10 multi-channel PWHT units (4 × 60 kW and 6 × 80 kW), ceramic heating elements, continuous calibrated chart recorders, and documented heating/soaking/cooling quality files.

Controlled Thermal Cycle & Field Method

PWHT applies an approved thermal cycle to welded components to relieve residual stresses, temper the metallurgical structure, and minimize brittle fracture risks. The job procedure strictly governs the heating band, thermocouple placement, heating rate, soak temperature and time, and controlled cooling.

Typical Execution Sequence:

  1. Review approved cycle and joint identification against client welding procedure.
  2. Install ceramic heating elements (finger/channel/spiral) and thermal insulation.
  3. Attach and verify K-type thermocouples with calibrated attachment units.
  4. Monitor heating, soaking, and controlled cooling continuously via digital controllers.
  5. Review, verify, and submit temperature recording charts for the permanent QA file.
